Invited by the Institute of Soil Fertilizer, Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FAAS), Professor Tom Misselbrook and Dr. Lianhai Wu, who are from the Research Centre for Atmospheric Emissions and Mitigation in Rothamsted Research, UK came for a visit from April 17 to 20,2018.
To improve the understanding of the complexity of nutrient cycling and pollution control in soils and the implications for practical land management, food production and environmental goals, the Institute of Soil Fertilizer (Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences) and Research Centre for Atmospheric Emissions and Mitigation (Rothamsted Research) agree to establish a Co-operational Key Laboratory of Materials Cycling and Pollution Control in soil. An agreement of this Co-operational Key Laboratory was signed On April 18. Mr.Yu Wenquan, vice president of Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, warmly welcomed the delegation and witnessed the signing ceremony. He hoped that more cooperation and exchanges will be conducted in the future.
During their visit, Professor Tom Misselbrook and Dr. Lianhai Wu delivered a lecture entitled ¡°Nitrogen use efficiency at the farm scale¡± and¡°Modeling plant growth and environmental indicators in agricultural systems¡±respectively. Their instructive lectures brought about much discussions following the lectures.
The delegation also visited Baisha Field Observation Station, Institute of Soil Fertilizer. Base on this visit, new research topics and research plans had been discussed and more cooperation will be conducted in the future.
